OPTIKUS
is an advanced medical technology device envisioned by Josh Shachar to provide a fully functional portable biosensor platform capable of detecting disease-indicating biomarkers and pathogens at clinically relevant concentrations from a sample of interest within minutes.
DESCRIPTION
- Portable, handheld biomarker detection.
- Patented Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) Technology.
- Detection limits as low as 1pg/ml.
- Complete Lab-On-A-Disc from sample preparation to pathogen isolation and analysis.
- Advanced nano-bead conjugation abilities.
- Unique microfluidic sample transport system.
- Time from sample input to results measured in minutes rather than hours.
- Secure cloud connectivity allows results to be shared instantly with needed healthcare officials dramatically reducing time to response and treatment.
TECHNICAL
- Biosensor consists of a piezoelectric substrate and two interdigitated transducers for generating and reading electrical signals.
- Detection sensing lanes contain an embedded layer of antibodies specific to the disease biomarker being investigated.
- MicroCD subsystem designed for the OPTIKUS platform enables automated preparation and delivery of a sample of interest to the biosensor.
- PIC32 microcontroller with a 24-bit analog to digital converter and a 325 megahertz RF signal generator to provide the overall system control for the reader.
- Variable speed drive motor is automatically controlled to provide the precise speed rates needed for each stage of the processing.
- Magnetic array accelerates binding of functionalized magnetic nanoparticle complexes to the antibodies immobilized on the biosensor surface.
- Electronic interface for providing the RF signal to the biosensor that results in the generation of the phase shift measurement.
- Unique wet/dry preparation provides higher detection fidelity results.
- Built-in WiFi/Bluetooth provides secure connectivity to Cloud for data sharing and data analysis.
APPLICATIONS
OPTIKUS represents a major breakthrough in diagnostic medicine by providing rapid, clinically relevant, point-of-care biomarker detection that can dramatically reduce time to response for the detection and mitigation of a variety of health issues including:
- Viral contagens such as Ebola, Marburg, HIV, Zika, and Covid
- Early-stage cancers such as Breast, Ovarian, and CNS-based cancers.
- Food-borne pathogens such as E. coli, Salmonella and Listeria.
- Water-borne pathogens including Cryptosporidiosis, Cyclosporiasis, and Giardiasis.
- Advance warning for immenent health risks such as Heart Attacks and Strokes
