Apparatus And Method For Cleaning High Power Transmission Lines
Patent Number: US 2019/0199071 Al
Date Filed: June 27, 2019
Country Filed In: USA
Product Application: HPTL Cleaner
Description:
An apparatus for autonomous cleaning of an electrical line includes: an inductive pickup coil concentrically disposed around the electrical line which pickup coil derives its power from the electrical line through inductive coupling; a drive motor having a driving wheel in contact with the electrical line; a power conditioning circuit for conditioning the inductively picked up power from the pickup coil, the drive motor being coupled to the power conditioning circuit; at least one rotating brush in contact with the electrical line for cleaning the electrical line; at least one brush motor coupled to the at least one brush to rotate the brush, the brush motor being coupled to the power conditioning circuit; and a control circuit for controlling the operation of the drive motor and brush motor, the control circuit coupled to the power conditioning circuit.
Field of Use: The High-Power Tension Line Cleaner (HPTL) is a unique device created by Josh Shachar to solve a very common problem in the public utility sector. In order to maintain peak efficiency and avoid potential outages, it is critical that power lines be kept clean and free of debris. The HPTL is a small device that is placed onto a high-power tension line. It utilizes the power lines' electricity to drive an inductive pickup coil that autonomously powers the system and allows it to travel along the line, removing debris and cleaning the line as it goes.
