Surface Acoustic Wave Biosensor Employing An Analog Front End And DNA Encoded Libraries To Improve Limit Of Detection (LOD) With Exemplary Apparatus Of The Same
Patent Number: US 2019/0170631 Al
Date Filed: June 6, 2019
Country Filed In: USA
Product Application: SAW Biosensor

Description:

A surface acoustic wave (SAW) performs a rapid, label-free detection of biological species. Biosensing and detection of multiple analytes multiplexed by an array of sensing lanes are configured to enable bio-amplification using engineered DNA encoded libraries as the probe through a phage display procedure to enhance specificity, capture statistics for the detection, screening and analyzing of the analyte in vitro. A biochemical formulation minimizes the limit of detection (LOD) at a threshold magnitude on the order of a femtomolar concentration. Additional enhancement of the apparatus is achieved by the use of an analog front end to amplify biochemical events.
Field of Use: The SAW Biosensor is part of Josh Shachar's exploration into developing next-generation biosensors that are capable of detecting specific biomarkers within a sample at clinically relevant levels in a simple portable point-of-care-device that can provide physicians and healthcare workers rapid and affordable pathogen detection without the need for a dedicated lab and specialized technicians and all the associated cost therein. The SAW Biosensor technology represented a major leap forward in being able to lower the limits-of-detection and the time-to-detection of a biomarker by utilizing the generation of a Surface Acoustic Wave across a sensor-surface where targeted antigens had been captured from a sample of interest.
